What is the role of a governor?
The role of governor is rewarding and varied. The responsibilities include:
- Develop and embed the school's vision, ethos and strategy
- Ensure a broad, balanced curriculum for all pupils
- Monitor education performance and school improvement
- Approve and review policies
- Ensure legal, safeguarding and health & safety compliance
- Scrutinise and monitor the school's budget and financial performance
- Oversee staffing structure and resource management
- Support and challenge the headteacher
- Engage stake holders and report to the board of trustees
